Alongside providing basic needs, Melon Mission is committed to fostering the health and well- being of the children in our care.
Recognizing the challenges faced by families who cannot afford health insurance, we organize regular medical checkups and cover emergency hospital bills when possible.
Many of our children’s families face significant challenges when unexpected medical expenses arise.
When resources and donations allow, we also provide additional nutritional support to ensure children with specific health and dietary needs are cared for with dignity and compassion.
Counseling
Some children at Melon Mission come from challenging and often traumatic backgrounds, which can affect their psychological, emotional and social well-being.
To support their holistic development, our social workers offer counseling on issues related to their mental, physical, spiritual, and social growth.
These dedicated counselors work closely with the children to build resilience, self-esteem, and hope and they regularly collaborate with other organizations to provide specialized counseling sessions that address a range of needs.
Community Service
While we are focused on helping the children, we also recognize the importance of supporting the guardians, who often face serious hardships. Many families of the children we care for struggle with issues such as unemployment, food insecurity, and even the threat of eviction due to unpaid rent.
When these unforeseen challenges arise, we step in to assist the families, ensuring that the children’s welfare is safeguarded. By providing occasional financial support, food, or other assistance, we help stabilize the home environments of our children, ensuring that they continue to thrive both at Melon and at home.
Our social welfare programs are designed to address not only the needs of our children but also to provide support to their families. By nurturing the overall well-being of both the children and their guardians, we aim to create a stronger, healthier foundation for the children’s growth and success.
